Located on the edge of Charnwood Forest, the Manor House was originally built as a family home for Ambrose Philipps de Lisle in 1833. 100 years later, the Rosminian Fathers founded Grace Dieu as a Preparatory School for Ratcliffe College and, now independent of each other , links between the two schools remain strong. Grace Dieu Today
Situated in 120 acres of beautiful grounds in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside, Grace Dieu today is a modern, vibrant, Catholic, co-educational day school and Nursery for boys and girls, aged 0 – 11. It is a happy school where children are encouraged to work hard and play hard.
Each year, staff and parents take enormous pleasure from seeing pupils flourish as they steadily gain maturity and confidence in readiness for their transfer at the age of 11 to a broad range of outstanding senior schools, both day and boarding. Mutual respect between staff and pupils is to be found here, together with a warm, family atmosphere based upon Christian values and traditions. Grace Dieu welcomes young people from families who feel drawn to this ethos, whatever their faith or denomination. With gentle yet persistent emphasis upon values and standards of behaviour, the school takes a delight in watching its pupils steadily growing into people of integrity and generosity. Grace Dieu prides itself on discovering and nurturing each child’s individual gifts, be they intellectual, physical, emotional, cultural or spiritual, so that every member of the school may feel contented and valued, fulfilled and challenged.
The academic life of the school is central and outstanding results in Key Stage tests and in senior school entry exams are clear evidence of this. Balance of life is vital, of course, and pupils here find many opportunities for fun and friendship on our extensive sports fields and in the spheres of music, art and drama.
